As a cosmetic therapy, acupuncture can be used revitalize and enhance the beauty of face. It is a non-surgical process, which helps rejuvenate the face and other parts of the body. Acupuncturists use an ancient needling technique to bring the flow of Qi (energy) and Blood to the face. What are the effects of Cosmetic Acupuncture?

Cosmetic acupuncture helps generate younger, radiant and vibrant looking skin due to an increase in the circulation of blood and lymph in the face and neck.

Cosmetic acupuncture increases the production of collagen, which is considered to be the essential protein required by the face muscles. It helps control hormonal imbalances in the body, which are responsible for blemishes on the face, hence it helps reduce acne and evens out the color of the face. Acupuncture helps enhance circulation of lymph, vital energy and blood which relaxes the skin and rejuvenates it.

What is the procedure?

Cosmetic Acupuncture utilizes the natural processes of the body to develop enhanced circulation and improve skin tone. Very fine stainless steel needles are inserted in specific treatment points (acupoints) on the face and body. These needles remain in position for 10 to 60 minutes depending on your body’s response and treatment program developed by your Acupuncturist.

To get effective results, a series of ten treatments over a period of five weeks is recommended. Within seven to eight treatments, you will begin to observe changes in your skin tone.

A regular skin care regime, facial exercises and massage will prolong the effects of your Acupuncture treatments. An active lifestyle and healthy diet is highly recommended.

Journal of Clinical Acupuncture Study

A 1996 study published in the International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture showed among 300 cases treated with facial acupuncture, 90% had marked effects with one course of treatment (10 sessions) The effects included improvement of skin elasticity, increase of facial tone, improvement in skin complexion and overall rejuvenation.

Typically, visible results begin to show after 6-7 treatments. These results last for extended periods of time. The healthier the lifestyle, the longer the results last.
